Another year has gone by and I am so close to graduating college. I am looking forward to what life has to offer me, but I want to quickly talk about some of the things that I have accomplished in 2018. I am not usually one to get all corny about goals and resolutions, but I can honestly that 2018 started off really rough for me, but I am so glad it is ending on a good note. Some key accomplishments include: my mental health, school, and my personal brand.
Mental Health
Not many people think of mental health as a goal, but just like any other goal, you need there is always room for improvement. For me, I have dealt with anxiety, specifically OCD for a little over 2 years and I can say that the beginning of 2018 was bad on that part. I was finally able to get better help and stabilize my anxious thoughts. Obviously, OCD isn’t something that will go away; it actually doesn’t have a cure, but there are treatments that can help you live life with more ease.
School
Well, it’s almost a wrap! Still can’t believe I’m graduating Rutgers University in May 2019. It’s a bittersweet moment because although I am so excited to be done with school, I’ll have to focus on getting a real job now. I have been working so hard this past fall semester, trying to get my GPA up and although my GPA is not where I want it to be, I know that I will keep trying hard even in the Spring semester. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to get an internship this past summer at a small PR firm called LaRue PR, where I got to learn the basic of Public Relations. When I was at my internship I was able to gain skills on creating media lists, using different platforms such as MuckRack and Cision Point. I also had the chance to create product pitches for back to school and summer essentials.
Personal Brand
I never thought in a million years I would ever have a blog and be able to grow my Instagram account this fast! I had made a new account back in November and I grew over 500+ followers within one and a half months! I am still shocked by how much I was able to grow my engagement and following. I have learned so much about the details that need to be put into creating content that will get a lot of attention and catch people’s eyes. I wish to continue to grow my personal brand and potentially work with big brands in the future.
You should be very proud of what you have accomplished! Wishing you all the best for 2019!
